Lots of players reported that they freeze up while in inventory with lots of stuff. I’ve noted that it’s recommended to minimize npcs, lighting, and building structures but honestly I think it has to do with storage as I made a 10x10 2 walls high and ceiling box base to test this with only 4 torches, 2 thralls, and every craft station plus 100 large chests all full and I won’t have a problem when I log in and stay in the box but of I go anywhere (unnamed city) and as soon as I get get back it freezes. I have the game installed in a ssd and still freezes. I don’t know why, but the game freezes a lot when i return to base, and it don’t freeze that much when i see huge player bases.
